TP7

Mock Commercial ~ Teenage Engineering

Recording Every First Times

The TP7 from Teenage Engineering is a field recorder engineered to the last detail to do only one thing and do it well.

Packaged with sandblasted aluminum and PU artificial leather, the TP7 blends efficiency and simplicity, bridging vintage aesthetics with modern functionality.

This blend of old and new is once again represented in the color palette of the shots. Orange came out as a complementary color to the blue-ish tones of the metal and LCD screen, and really helped warming up the look.

Overall, this project is an excellent example to illustrate one advantage of CGI over traditional photography: flexibility. Here, the recorder is placed in the 3D world within a mirror-like bubble — a setup certainly to replicate in a physical studio. The whole bubble then reflects warm narrow lights placed around the object, creating those eerie streaks of light and tying the vintage look together.
