The Sennheiser Soundstation is a semi-portable speaker concept I designed back in early 2023. Its goal? To fill that middle-ground between home speakers and screenless fully portable ones.

The Soundstation packs a 4″ anti-glare display, a powerful speaker system and all the ports you’d ever need, whether you’re jamming to music while cooking or at the lakeside with friends.

When selecting materials, I aimed for a balance between the premium feel of a home speaker and the durability needed for both indoor and outdoor use.

Photographing reflective metallic surfaces can sometimes be tricky, especially since lights in 3D softwares often produce harsh, unappealing reflections. To create a nice, soft illumination on the speaker, I borrowed a trick from real-life product photographers: light diffusers.

Using translucent 2D planes helps lessen the contrast, soften shadows, and gives an overall more flattering lighting style for the subject.

This creates lighting similar to what you’d achieve in a physical studio photoshoot, without any added inconveniences.
